“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU SHUT THE DOORS?!?!” I essentially yell at the innocent man at the front desk at the Tucson airport. I am literally shaking and about to pull the really inappropriate “family card”. So before I embark on this dark path I remember I am 1.) In a public place and 2.) Not needing to give everybody the idea that I am the potential reincarnation of Jeffrey Dahmar, about to eat this poor mans head off. And 3.) Just coming from an ethics/logic lecture, SO the answer is more than ETHICALLY obvious. Anyways, I finally proceed to taking a deep breath and…. continuing to loose it. Sick. I never lose my cool, but yeah GUILTY, I lost it this time.
“I’m sorry miss but you can’t show up 30 minutes before, we have a time sensitive policy”
Alright so I get this, but then, I am still continuing to lose it as let you know, the ENTIRE University of Arizona basketball team decides to “roll up” and experience my close to utter and incomprehensible cerebral shut down. Dear lord, Allah, Siddhartha, whom ever you are… WHY. So after a few minutes of absolute freak out, the man took pity on me and sent me on a flight, which mind you had a 6 hour layover in Seattle. Whatever, I’ll take anything. Praise Jesus there is a god. So lesson learned for me….Read the fine print, but also, the regular 12 point font will properly suffice as a VERY necessary guide to a seat on the flight. And without a 6 hour layover.
So I am going to highlight an artist/group/band every Monday, giving all my followers a bit of an idea of what has been dancing through my ears and into my mind. The artist of the week (or last week…. Lies, two weeks running for my obsession) is LOLAWOLF. So for a little run down on Lolawolf, the main singer/vocalist is Zoë Kravitz, yes the offspring of famous Lenny Kravitz who has all left us star struck at some point in our lives. Zoës voice in particular is what blows me away, because it is almost like butter. Her voice somewhat melts and blends within the flow of the music, almost like the smooth blend of a good smoothie. Or cream being mixed in your morning cup of Joe. ZOË IS THE CREAM. Also what is incredible about this group is that they have a really raw sound that cuts through anything you have listened to before. You can sense the real passion of the group not just with in the vocals but, also the beat itself. The group really drills in to the raw emotions of the listener, and its intensity is a 10, but in the best way. This album literally caught me so off guard that it felt like someone slapped me in the face. Take some time and check out their album Calm Down, it’s incredible.
That’s a wrap for Music Mondays.
So I realized that I didn’t give too much background about myself in my last blog post aside from the fact that I have ADHD and enjoy bacon, so here is a little bit about me. For those of you who don’t know me (aside from the friends and family in which I have essentially thrust this blog URL upon) my name is Maddie and I am a student, just trying to figure out life. I grew up going to school in the San Francisco area with my mom and step-dad and spent the rest of my time with my dad in Hawaii. Now, I know what you’re going to say… “WHAT? OH NO WAY HAWAII???” and then I proceed to virtually tell you that yes, everything that you are thinking about is, in fact, true…. I do exchange my shorts for a grass skirt and spearfish native style in my spare time. Well reality is, both places are home and I see neither as a vacation. Just home sweet home. So for some fun facts about me:
- I like to bring my running shoes anywhere (can always see more)
- I like to scrape all the cheese off the pizza because it taste better
- I like to have dinner for breakfast and not breakfast for dinner
- Guilty, I am that person who talks to you on an airplane.
- When I get in my car, I press my breaks and put the car in reverse and then put on my seat belt.
- While waiting for in and out, I will ask you what you ordered even though there are only a variety of orders you could have gotten.
- Oh and finally the worst. (Or best depending, on how you see it) is the fact that I will shamelessly eat an entire can of whip cream in one sitting.
So there you go, some in-depth but completely transparent aspects of my life. Couldn’t say why, but I can tell you… it just happens. Other less important things about me are that I absolutely LOVE music, any kind… and I love oldies too. ANY oldies. I love to travel and have studied in Italy, which was unreal. I love to paint and dance when I have spare time and when I mean spare time I mean sporadic and outrageous outburst of artistic need for expression after being suppressed by course work. But that is the basic life of a college student isn’t it? Just trying to get my degree! AND I have a soft spot in my heart for literature, art, history, and bar soaps. THAT’S ME.
FIRST BLOG POST. This blog will essentially be about my crazy outrageously speedy brain and how I go about processing and connecting things in life to make sense of the world. Which in the end…is a bit ridiculous BUT it gets the job done! Hence the name ADHD with a side of BACON! Because that’s how crazy ADHD is…so crazy you can’t focus on it for too long you just think of other things like bacon and then they just connect and make sense. Any who, to all my potential followers (for thus I have none at the moment….) sit back and enjoy reading the wacky and ludicrous stories because I know that’s how I feel about them when they virtually unravel before me in real life!
